Will soon be seen in a Public Service Announcement for "311" airing on Channel 25 NYC TV and on NBC during "The Martha Stewart Show." In a featured role, I play a mother who takes her adorable little girl to the playground to play in the sprinklers. Mayhem, superheroes, and tears ensue! Have just been cast in a short film to be directed by Linda Brieda. We are scheduled to shoot at the end of this month. Linda has done some really intriguing work so far and I'm looking forward to working with her!
World premiere of "The Black Sorority Project: The Exodus." I worked on this beautiful film last year and was very excited to attend the premiere this evening. Notables in attendance were Rosalyn Coleman Williams (Director of BSP) and Craig Williams (Producer of BSP) of Red Wall Productions, Derek Fordjour (Exec. Producer of BSP) and his lovely wife La Chanze (Tony winner for The Color Purple), Jarmar White (Exec. Co-Producer), Maryam Myika Day, plus many other talented collaborators and supporters. Click here to visit the Black Sorority Project website. Currently re-sharpening my Shakespeare skills with George Bartenieff at HB Studio. George was recently seen in "Stuff Happens" at the Public Theatre and is a terrific teacher. I'm having a ball working on the Bard with him and am constantly tickled by George's love of art, the classics, and actors.
Septemer 29, 2005 Just received word from John Rainey of OFG Productions that I have been cast in a supporting role in their new TV pilot, "Sessions." "SESSIONS" is a show about the relationships between trainers and clients in a large gym. The characters are as diverse in race, gender, age and financial brackets as they are in their upbringing and lifestyles. I really enjoyed meeting the production team during the audition and callback, so I'm looking forward to the experience of working with them. Shooting starts the week after next. Performed in "The Audition" yesterday and won the audience vote! Very exciting and lots of fun. Kind of like American Idol on Zoloft. Just received word from the director that I have been cast as the lead in the independent short, "Mother's Day." We begin shooting this weekend in Washington DC. I'm so excited about this project! Not only is it an amazing story with an amazing crew, but I get to shoot a gun! Would more could a girl ask for? Project: Mother's Day I just heard from Betsy Head, one of the producers of Page 10 Productions, that I've secured a spot in her brainchild, "The Audition!" I'll be performing September 8th at 8pm. Here are the details... THE CONCEPT: THE AUDITION pulls back the curtain on New York City theater auditions. 10 Actors will perform their monologues for a panel of three New York City directors and the audience. At intermission, the audience votes for their favorite actors and the top 6 return for Act II: Callbacks. Callbacks are readings of two scenes from a One-Act play. Then the panel of three directors vote for one man, one woman, and one wildcard (someone from ANY portion of the evening, whether or not they were called back) and those three perform a final scene that is cold-read.
